As a group of four students at the University of Georgia, we hope this music page can give you an insight to the sounds of Athens, Georgia. The year 2020 has only inspired each of us to listen more closely to the soundtrack of life, and we hope this blog can help you look more closely at every new song, album, and virtual concert experience. Southern Britt

is a fourth year senior at the University of Georgia studying a major in journalism, minor in communications, and certificate in sports media. Southern’s favorite artists include: Johnnyswim, Chris Stapleton, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, and Ludacris.

Takunda Mafundikwa

is senior at the University of Georgia studying Journalism. Takunda’s love for music has lead him to be involved in art production for music videos in Atlanta for artists such as The City Girls, A-Boogie, The Migos, Lil Baby and others. Takunda also helps run a hiphop blog site called Juicebox Collective. Takunda hopes to turn his passion for music into something tangible by directing music videos and films.

William Newlin

William is a fourth-year journalism and international affairs student at the University of Georgia. He specializes in sports writing for The Red & Black, the independent, student-run newspaper in Athens, Georgia. His favorite bands include Alice in Chains, Black Sabbath, Broken Bells and Ty Segall.

Kate Ross

Kate is a fourth-year Journalism major in Grady College at the University of Georgia. Since moving to Athens, she is surrounded with musicians and music-loving people. Although she doesn’t play herself, she knows how to enjoy a good song or two. Most of her friends are in rock bands, which happens to be her favorite genre. Some of her favorite artists are The Cowboys, Brian Eno, The Ramones, and Wire.
